Maintain a list of custom asset packs.

Someone has created custom assets. There could be a list. https://github.com/MicahBird/tabletop-club-OneCards-asset-pack

Not sure if the README is the correct place for this (because of licensing issues).

This might be something that could be a sticky in the future discord/matrix/forum/whatever server. Or a moderated separate list somewhere (or in github) (either from drwhut or somewhere else).

But I agree that some sort of list would be nice.

A discord/forum would be a much better fit for this sort of list.

My main concern with this, as well as an asset pack CDN in general, is how do we prevent copyrighted material from being shared? And if there is some sort of copyright strike, who would be liable? Does it depend on the platform?

The understanding of copyright infringement is different from one jurisdiction to another, and even from one judge to another. There is no standard answer. The copyright holders won't sue if there is no or too little benefit for them.

Until another solution is come to, I've made a repository at https://github.com/samknaup/tabletop-club-assets for now. If anyone else has an asset pack they'd like me to add to it feel free to leave an issue.

After doing some research and seeing how others have dealt with the issue of copyright infringement, I am slowly warming up to the idea of having a dedicated Discord/Matrix channel for sharing custom asset packs while there isn't a dedicated CDN.

The general idea is that users who post the assets are the ones responsible for making sure there is no copyrighted material being distributed, and that the licenses the assets are distributed under allow for re-distribution. If there is then a violation, third parties should be able to easily contact me, or another moderator, to request a takedown of the material. Plus, me and potential moderators should also have the right to be able to take down assets for whatever reason.
