[Request] Add Windows Vista/7 Classic Theme Option

Open SL6464 opened this issue 3 years ago • 5 comments

Vista/7 had a different classic start button and a vertically-centred clock, and 7 had larger tray icon spacing, none of which is possible under the current themes.

Given that running the Classic Theme on 8.1/10 results in a "7-like" experience with regard to Windows Explorer, it would be nice if the taskbar would match it.

7 Start Button Tray Icons

I think the main things that I would like to see is a theme with this start button and a vertically-centred clock. The icon spacing is less important but it might be worth having a Vista theme (which looks like this but with XP's icon spacing) and a 7 theme (which is the same as Vista but with larger icon spacing).

This is not a duplicate. Issue #80 is talking about the Windows 7 taskbar, which is the Aero taskbar. I am specifically talking about the Vista/7 taskbar whilst the classic theme is running.

Vista was added by #296, now available in 1.8.

The Vista theme is great, I've been using it ever since it was added. For the 7 theme, I wanted to point out that in addition to the tray icon spacing mentioned in the OP, there are a few other changes too:

  1. The icon in the start button is actually a bit different from the Vista one
  2. There's a larger gap between the start button and the first taskbar item
  3. When a taskbar item is active, the text on it stays at the same vertical position it was before it was clicked, as opposed to in Vista where it's moved down by 1 pixel
  4. When a taskbar item is active, the background colour is white, rather than checked/transparent like it was in Vista

Top image is Vista; bottom is 7.
