[Request] Support also now the Windows 8.1, Windows 10 and Windows 11 DeskBar Themes (with more customization possibilities as their origin pendants)
Hello Together,
I really like the RetroBar-Project/-Tool.
Some Users like the DeskBars of Windows 8.x, Windows 10 and Windows 11, but all have disadvantages:
(1) They are Windows-Version specific. E.g. no Windows 10 DeskBar on Windows 11. (2) On Windows 10: No central position of DeskBar (like Windows 11). Better is, if we can config the DeskBar Position and Content positions (of the DeskBar sections). (3) On Windows 11: The only bugfree DeskBar position is only at bottom side (Top side only via Registry and then withn't fixed Bugs). (4) On Windows 10: Windows 8.1 Themes are already Retro. :D (5) On Windows 11: Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 Themes are already Retro. :D (6) Windows 12: Then also the Windows 8.x, 10 and 11 Themes are Retro. (7) On Windows 11: Also a Windows 11 DeskBar based on RetroBar (Old, Custom, Current themes) can use Windows 11 DeskBar experience really better.
Your Project RetroBar has chance to make all previous, current and further or future DeskBar themes more configurable, extensible, reducible and preservable, along all supported OS platforms as each other Windows-DeskBar. All we need is only RetroBar for that.
And based and implemented on platform independent OpenSource-Software, it has the chance to make RetroBar really OS platform independent (also for Linux-Systems). Maybe even more Linux themes (GNOME, KDE, Plasma, Xfce, Mint, Cinnamon) or macOS/X themes would be conceivable?
Thanks so much for your works. 👍
I fear that you are missing the point of this project. The point of this project is to replace the taskbar with something older or more legacy as you may call it, Vista has only recently become legacy, therefore any in place themes for Windows are not going to be added. Also Linux themes as you put them are actually full desktop environments. They cannot be easily translated to Windows.
I made a Windows 10 theme:

It's not perfect, but feel free to use it as a starting point.
I reckon it would be awesome if this could become a start of a taskbar replacement, which in turn becomes a module of a larger project - an open source desktop environment for Windows! As customizable as kde and able to give you the look and feel of most versions of Windows
I hope not! That would give people a reason to continue using windows! The insecurities of Windows cannot be overlooked any longer.
