Vertical tabs mess with minimum window width
When the new Firefox vertical tabs are enabled windows with small width break, is there an about:config setting I can change to allow for thin windows?
Checked the Firefox git and found this
https://github.com/mozilla-firefox/firefox/commit/db5e76a3a38eba87ec06600957c0dbdf83c160c6
I'll try messing with these first to see if I can get it to behave the way I want.
Okay, I got it to allow me to have a reasonably thin window if I edit userChrome's #main-window to force min-width: 500px
Not sure if I want to keep this issue open, on one hand it's "solved" for me, but I definitely feel like the current defaults for vertical tabs are very restrictive and definitely affects the user experience for tiling window manager users. Is this something you'd consider changing on firedragon's end or would it be better to close the issue?
I don't think this is necessarily a bug, but instead based on the change and the associated comments this was intended, to keep the UI legible (https://phabricator.services.mozilla.com/D264090). So I'm unsure whether we should mess with this, if it could then cause issues with overlapping UI elements. If this really is a problem it might make more sense to address this upstream in Mozillas bugtracker (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/).
@dr460nf1r3, @FGD-Garuda: What are your thoughts?
Letting this be upstream sounds like a sane thing, especially if we are dealing with intended behavior.
