Radar with Precipitation Type Display

A Radar with Precipitation Type display should be provided.

Method 1 If it exists, this may be able to be solved using a grib2 source.

Method 2 Implement an open source algorithm

  • The wxdata library should include a derived product generator
  • Retrieve existing level 3 data
    • Reflectivity
    • Melting layer
  • Retrieve vertical temperature profile (RAP, NAM, GFS, another source?)
  • Possible algorithms

  • Can accuracy be increased by using surface observations?

Depending on data sources required to implement the derived product, an archive view may not be able to be provided. Model data and surface observations may limit this to live products only (or recent history).
