How to get the visible symlink icons back?

Description

Doublecommander used to have highly visible icons for symlinks and broken symlinks:

New versions of doublecommander seem to have only a grey overlay icons to indicate symlinks. Those are somewhat visible at 32x32 icon size, but barely visible at 16x16:

How can i get the old highly visible icons back? tnx

No way, the old icons were completely removed. They were terrible and conflicted with the system icon theme.

Overlay icons colors depends on the current icon theme.

Can one add them manually? If one made such icons could they add them by adding to the theme?

No, this function was completely removed.
