The entities folder contain my entities.
Both the efcore5 and efcore6 contain the exact same EF Core configuration.
Running add-migration (or the dotnet ef equivalent) for the efcore 6 project results in the error mentioned below.
You can see in my previous commits that this DID work in ef core 5.
I can't find any breaking changes in the docs about this.
I tried making my repo as small as possible, but if things are unclear, let me know and I will improve them!
Include stack traces
Include the full exception message and stack trace for any exception you encounter.
Use triple-tick fences for stack traces. For example:

It's a bug caused by this configuration:
modelBuilder.Entity<DerivedDerivedClass>().OwnsOne(d => d.OwnedType);
modelBuilder.Entity<DerivedClass>().OwnsOne(d => d.OwnedType);
As a workaround avoid calling modelBuilder.Entity<DerivedDerivedClass>().OwnsOne(d => d.OwnedType);
Thanks for your reply. It's good to see this has a 7.0.0 milestone. What exactly is the plan for this? A better exception message, or more than this?
I mention this because of this scenario:
What if DerivedClass has a property of OwnedType with the columnname Foo, DerivedDerivedClass wants it to be Bar. This is of course very odd, but with your suggested workaround it is not supported. I think the docs/error message should be more clear about this.
Furthermore, I believe the docs should be updated about this breaking change! :)
It will not throw.
https://github.com/dotnet/efcore/issues/19811 will allow you to configure different column names.
