cannot uninstall sdk 10.0.100-rc.1.25451.107 - it's not even listed

When i'm doing dotnet --info, i get this result:

Image which corresponds to the folder structure: Image

sadly, the rc sdk isn't shown as uninstallable, neither in control panel nor the new Settings:

So i installed and ran dotnet-core-uninstall but the sdk isn't listed:

trying to forcefully uninstall it didn't work either

any help uninstalling this will be appreciated, thank you :-)

dotnet-core-uninstall list already explains what it does if you read carefully. What it doesn't say is the algorithm used (fully based on MSI, not folder structure) to generate the list but you can read this small code base to understand that.

In your case, the RC1 SDK wasn't installed via MSI, or at least that's what Control Panel | Programs tells us. That's why it is not listed and cannot be uninstalled by this tool, which works differently from dotnet --info.

@lextm where do you see any info about the RC1? you mean the fact that it wasn't installed by an msi is obvious by it not being in the programs and features list?

the question remains, then: how do i uninstall it? because i upgraded VS2026 RC to insiders (and installed non-insiders next to it), which does use the rtm one.

--> shouldn't the dotnet-core-uninstall tool be able to uninstall that rc1 sdk, though? should i just delete the folder?

Yes.

Yes. I think you can just delete that folder.

CC @joeloff on instructions to run a direct msi command to remove RC1 assuming it is installed but just not showing up in ARP.
