Reorganize the guide

Open dreamwhite opened this issue 3 years ago • 3 comments

The following PR aim is to reorganize the existing dortania/OpenCore-Install-Guide

The main reasons why I decided to open this PR are:

  • repetitiveness of most of the sections (e.g. ACPI, Booter etc)
  • cleanliness of the guide

Please note that this PR is still a WIP so I'll mark it as a draft at the time of writing

Reminder for me:

  • Reorganize ACPI sections by splitting them onto Desktop and Intel Laptops sections

Hi. I'm hoping that this is the proper place for this as it DOES pertain to the guide - specifically the section at the start of the "Kaby Lake" ACPI section (and I am guessing those with similar USB configs/specs as well) where it deals with adding SSDTs. It might be helpful to add a disclaimer that the USB ssdts are only for temporary use when first getting OpenCore initially set up and then should be removed/disabled once a proper port mapping procedure has later taken place. I looked through that section and did not see anything mentioning that. My apologies if it is mentioned later in the guide but I thought it would be helpful to add there. Otherwise, thanks for a well-thought-out guide that is immensely helpful for those new to OpenCore or just moving over from Clover or - GASP - even Chameleon!

The text selection highlight color in the code blocks of the guide is practically the same as the background color which makes it very difficult to tell whether or not any text is selected. Since the purpose of code blocks is largely to facilitate copying sections of text I find this undesirable.

I suggest changing the selection highlight color to something that contrasts more with the background. e.g. #FFFF00.
