macOS Sierra Macbook Pro mid-2009 - Freezes after reboot.
- OS Version: macOS Sierra 10.12
- Mac model: Macbook Pro 5.5 (mid-2009)
- Dongle or replaced card?: DONGLE Asus BT400
My Issue: My macbook pro freezes on reboot after installing the CAT.( v. 2.3) It take too much loading. Before it finished (95%?), it freezes. What I have to do here? :/
I've run into VERBOSE mode and show this:
What Can i do?
I have the same problem. MacBook pro 2010 running Sierra
I've make the verification, and it's all ok. but it coninues to freeze after reboot :/ can you help...PLEASEEE?
Look:
I have the same issue as OP.
MBP mid 2010 13", 16GB RAM, base model, IO Gear BT 4.0 USB dongle, DIY fusion drive, macOS Sierra (release), CAT 2.4 (latest beta), after several tries, I did a clean install of macOS, turned off SIP, ran term. to enable apps, ran CAT, and upon restart it would lock up...I ran verbose mode to see if it was the same results, which I have attached pic. (CAT seemed to run ok, except it could not do the backup, said the drive was read only, which it is not. (?) )
Same here :( dont have any clue how to make this thing works?
Mid-2009 MBP 13" built-in WIFI, generic Broadcom BT 4.0 dongle, Sierra 10.12.2, CAT 2.4b5
SAME PROBLEM-boot stalls after install of CAT, Safe Boot also stalls.
2nd problem-after manually fixing boot using Firewire Target Disk mode & other Mac to manually changing kexts back, when I reboot successfully, and then run CAT 2.4b5 to UNINSTALL CAT, it says it uninstalls, but com.dd1.SIPLD.plist in /System/Library/LaunchAgents is NOT uninstalled, so the reboot after the UNINSTALL gives me a warning saying Continuity Activation Tool wants to make changes to my system, and needs my password. I had to find this LaunchAgent myself and remove it manually also, even though I'd already run the uninstall. The two folders KextBackupBeforePatch & KextBackupAfterPatch are also left untouched in the Applications folder. There should be a "Complete UNINSTALL" that removes everything and returns the system to pre-CAT configuration.
Hi everybody,
Same issue here. My configuration: OS Version: macOS Sierra 10.12.2 Mac model: Macbook Pro 5.3 (mid-2009) Dongle or replaced card?: DONGLE Asus BT400 CAT : 2.4b5
All seems to be fine during the activation but my Macbook Pro freeze at reboot. I try to make a fresh install of Sierra, same thing.
So sad, too bad :p

Hello, Same problem, MacBook Pro 5,4 mid 2009 macOS Sierra 10.12.4 Dongle Hope you find out a solution soon!
I'm sadly having this very same issue. Tried two times, and it appears to be going just fine, but when I try to reboot, it just hangs it. I'm currently running macOS Sierra through macOS Sierra Patcher Tool on my Macbook Pro mid 2009 (5,5).
Same thing here. Mac Pro 5,1 (CPU upgrade from 4,1). Sierra latest version. SSD system drive. Dongle: Asus BT400. Install and changes to system using CAT went without a hitch, and then after restart it would hang at 95% or so. Reinstalling Os now. Seeing a lot of this on google, and no fixes other that reinstall. Any other options to use Bluetooth 4?
I bought this - worked perfectly where the hub failed completely and caused a re-install of sierra http://www.osxwifi.com/apple-broadcom-bcm94360cd-802-11-a-b-g-n-ac-bluetooth-4-0-with-adapter-for-macpro-2009-and-macpro-2010.
Hi guys, After exhausting experiments, I came up with CAT works with MBP Mid 2009 on Yosemite using Asus BT-400 dongle perfectly no glitches no hiccups. I tried many other methods automated and manual to get it to work on El Capitan, Sierra, High Sierra, Mojave, and Catalina non of them worked. unfortunately I am a system administrator not a programer, so I can't determine the problem exactly. I think the tool need to be updated to support other operating system. If there is any programer willing to help, I'll be more than happy to follow instructions to fix CAT to support MBP Mid 2009 on more os versions.
