@dark0dave see my notes above, in particular:

I would like to drop the shell from the docker image, but I understand why it's currently needed - https://github.com/doitintl/kube-no-trouble/issues/304

... I believe currently the shell (therefore alpine) is needed to redirect output to a file. I agree to keep scratch, and so #304, but I think that's something that can be done before we start publishing the official docker image.
