Question

I really love macOS 26, and I keep wondering: can I install it? If yes, will I still be able to sign in with my Apple ID? And if there’s no direct way to install macOS 26 using "VERSION: 26", can I just update through Settings instead—and still keep my Apple ID signed in?

I suppose you mean macOS 16 (instead of 26). And yes, you can set VERSION to 16 to start its installation. But last time I tried it failed halfway, maybe you have more luck.

I dont know if it will keep your Apple ID signed in when you upgrade through Settings. I dont even have an Apple ID myself, so I am unable to test that. If you make a backup of your /storage folder before upgrading, you can always go back to that copy if it messes up your installation.

I have an question. Can I set SPOOF_VM="1" so thạt macOS can't recognize that it is running inside a virtual machine so that I can sign in apple id to it ? as this issues said: https://github.com/dockur/macos/issues/266 @kroese

macOS 26 is the current version of macOS, FYI. Yes, it's a jump in the number. But 26 is correct.

I just tried it and it installed fine. I gave it 256GB storage and 8GB of RAM, other than that everything is default.
