Every 5-7 days Docker throws the following error and the engine + container all become unresponsive: "running engine: engine linux/virtualization-framework failed to run: running VM: com.docker.virtualization: process terminated unexpectedly: accepting AF_VSOCK connection: AF_VSOCK listener closed"
Description
Every 5-7 days Docker Desktop encounters an error wherein it becomes unresponsive along with all containers. I have restarted Docker Desktop, the host machine (Intel Mac Mini), and even done a complete reset of Docker. None of these methods has corrected the issue.
The error is:
running engine: engine linux/virtualization-framework failed to run: running VM: com.docker.virtualization: process terminated unexpectedly: accepting AF_VSOCK connection: AF_VSOCK listener closed
Reproduce
- Run Docker Desktop with multiple containers.
- Allow 5-7 days to elapse. The error & unresponsiveness triggers at a random point on its own.
Expected behavior
Docker should not become unresponsive.

Same issue
Has anyone found a workaround?? This is halting my dev workflow :(
Hi,
Same issue occurred with me as well. I tried docker buildx command to build an image for another platform architecture and it bricked whole installation.
It can be reproduced with version 4.34.3 (170107).
I tried reinstalling and again got bricked with docker buildx build --platform=linux/amd64
Information: Version: 4.34.3 (170107) Engine: 27.2.0 Compose: v2.29.2-desktop.2 Credential Helper: v0.8.2 Kubernetes: v1.30.2 MacOS: 15.0.1 (24A348)
any update?
Having the same issue since around Docker Desktop 4.23.x or so, around when they added Resource Saver (see #6933)
Other similar issues: #7456 #7383 #7381
My own personal occurrence with this is also about weekly or so with one or two containers up and it'll throw the same error and critically fail with a popup. This can happen if I leave it alone or even while in the middle of active dev work, I have found no common through-line for when/why this would occur.
Platform: M1 Mac - 12.7.6 (Monterey) Docker Desktop: 4.34.3 as of now (been hoping updates would fix this issue, it has happened across multiple versions for the past few months) Diagnostic ID: 2CE3EB5E-7411-490A-97F9-7A9A20E14C06/20241030211925 I have submitted more data when I encounter this issue, but never kept their ID's on hand.
