Make sure you have the self-signed certificate trusted. Are there any error codes/messages that are mentioned or does it fail silently?

You should still be able to trust the certificate. Have you tried downloading your root certificate to your device and then enabling full trust for it (Settings→General→About→Certificate Settings)?

If this happens to be the outdated syntax tool, perhaps we should add [Whitesource](https://github.com/marketplace/renovate) or Dependabot to help keep things up-to-date. In the meantime, I'll take a crack at trying...
