Not a bug, but a question about using sommelier or xiwi with a normal chroot

I would like to be able to use GUI applications like xfce4 with either xiwi or sommelier within a chroot that was created without crouton. I'm sure it's possible and I've tried a few different steps but nothing has worked so far. Any ideas?
