Question on not using "Set Up Automatic Updates for All Users" option in Chrome“

In the epichrome readme under "Important Notes" it says: „Do not use the "Set Up Automatic Updates for All Users" option in Chrome“ I couldn't find this option. Nothing about update…. where should it be? Using Version 83.0.4103.61

I then did the manual way described, with deleting both GoogleSoftwareUpdate folders and downloading the latest chrome (thus only overwriting the app folder under /Applications) The ~/Library/Google/GoogleSoftwareUpdate was re-created after starting chrome.

So did you have this turned on before? The option has been renamed at some point, apparently (I'll update the Readme for the next release). It's in the About Google Chrome page (accessed either from the Chrome menu in the main menubar, or the link at the bottom left of the Chrome settings page) and is now titled Automatically update Chrome for all users. Of course, if you had already turned it on, I think that would say something different, or might not be there at all.

It looks to me like you did the right things to turn it off. Has it worked? In the re-installed Chrome does it now have that item that says Automatically update Chrome for all users?
