We don't maintain that library so we cannot really help you with this. Writing the image before displaying it might resolve your issue?

We have used those values for over 15 years and I don't think we should change the output. I also would not want to pollute our code with an url...
The mime type information is not optimal and I would prefer to not use this in new places.
That check was probably introduced to avoid zero values so we should be careful with changing this.
