What is the error message? Does the EV3 show an IP address? If yes, what is it? Does it work if you replace `ev3dev.local` with the IP address?
Hmm... it sounds like it is connected to the Internet, but domain name resolution isn't working. Maybe you could try adding a different DNS server?

Which OS are you using? You didn't give the full stack trace, but I'm guessing this is propagating an error from the OSes Bluetooth stack. So there isn't really anything...
