Problem with smileys and umlauts

We use the bot's chat function to send information to all servers. Unfortunately Discord converts a :) to an Smiley/Emoticon which is then sent to the server. There then only >><?> arrive ... the same with umlauts (in German: äöüß/ÄÖÜ) ... it's hard to read :)

I think this is just a character set problem? The conversion does not work. The ARK chat (EN client) can handle smileys and umlauts. They just have to arrive there correctly.
