Maps keep disappearing

That's it. All imported maps get wiped, leaving a blank map that gets regenerated as a normal map when held.

(Java Edition 1.13.2)

That's because your minecraft version is greater than 1.12 and it doesn't convert a 1.12 map data file into higher version. You need to update its version with some nbt editing tool like nbt explorer.
