Removes: Mech Armor, Adds: Mech armor to Mech Components
About The Pull Request
- Removes all mech armor platings.
- Attaches armor to a mech's component.
- Light components are now EMP proof.
- Some misc changes.
- Deflections! Bullets hitting a mech have a tiny chance to ricochet off.
Why It's Good For The Game
Mech armor is now tied to a mech's component, this change was suggested at one point by Humon (?) on the discord, this makes finding a mech with combat components more value off the bat, it also better communicates to players what a mech's armor rating is.
Also adds deflections and directional armor - some components have reduced/increased armor at the back/front. Generally, light/industrial components have the same armor rating, sensors are weaker at the front, and combat-grade components (torso, legs, arms) are tougher at the front. Weaker bullets have a slight chance to ricochet off a mech's armor.
Testing
Yeah, about that..
:cl: by Frown_Town & SPCR del: Removes mecha plating. balance: Mecha's defense now relies solely on the mech's installed components, light components are (should be) EMP-proof, adds directional armour to some components, adds deflections/ricochets. /:cl:
Why is Light armor EMP proof by default?
Why is Light armor EMP proof by default?
Why is Light armor EMP proof by default?
It replaces the ablative/EM-Proof armor plating that existed previously. Having it on a var also lets armored components have good resistance against lasers/plasma without it affecting EMPs..
Respond to my code comments please.
Overall I like the direction of this PR. Balancing seems all over the place, but I didn't see anything gamebreaking. The direction system will also help mechs feel both more powerful, but also easier to fell with good teamplay.
Responded, spcr updated - not sure if he got everything though, I'll ask about the explosions.
I think the conflicts are fixed?
@Humonitarian review again.
Update: Adds missing armor, don't know how I missed that. Changes some of the multipliers around, removes some unnecessary ones.
