fastmail has trial (limited) accounts with hard limits on sent emails. you can create one for free here https://www.fastmail.com/signup/

Maybe this one will fix it: https://github.com/MailCore/mailcore2/pull/1701 I'm going to double-check.

I've tried adding the correct IMAP/SMTP during account setup, unfortunately that didn't solve the connection issue

I just checked build 192 and after removing and re-creating my fastmail account (without clicking on custom parameters button) it worked out of the box. Thank you for checking this out.

Tried again on build 192 with little success.

Worth noting is that I'm using a custom domain so email != username, which means that I have to use custom settings.

The custom settings screen verifies that my details are correct, and lets me create and account, but afterwards all I get is:

@oskarkrawczyk I'm also using a custom domain and it works fine.

Unfortunately no joy here.

If there's anything I can provide to pinpoint the issue, please let me know.

@oskarkrawczyk same for me, not using Fastmail

I think that even with a custom domain, DejaLu will detect it as being Fastmail. Could you try just adding it and not going through the "Custom" workflow for adding an account?

dinhvh avatar Feb 13 '18 16:02 dinhvh

DejaLu can detect the provider, sure, but it cannot detect my actual username for SMTP/IMAP, which in FastMail is not the same as the email, so it's not possible to skip the Custom workflow.

Here's a screencast of the process (including the error about the wrong username as aforementioned): https://v.usetapes.com/TXQH6PwSrp

@oskarkrawczyk Can you try using your @fastmail.com address/username to create your account then use alias to set the email address you want to work with? You can make an email alias the default email to use with an account.

@dinhviethoa That works as a workaround, thanks.

That said, I don't think this is the optimal way to set up a Fastmail account :-)
