Actually `Viburnum plicatum Thunb. var.tomentosum Miq.` parses fine, the problem is when there are no spaces between an an author ending with a dot and a rank after it.

It is a tricky one, I'll think what to do. Also I am not sure what to do with authorship in this format, where initials are after the name.
