Crammed GUI on start, no reaction to window resize

Hi! Testing feedback.

Just installed most recent version — it runs, but gui looks like this:

image

Half of the available space is empty, the other half is crammed. :eyes: :point_up:

Resizing the window does nothing:

System information

  • coppwr version: 1.6.1
  • coppwr installation method: .deb
  • PipeWire version: libpipewire 1.0.5
  • OS: Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS
  • Desktop environment/Window manager: KDE

To Reproduce Nothing peculiar here: 0. Have an Ubuntu with KDE and Pipewire;

  1. Download .deb from GH Releases;
  2. sudo dpkg -i
  3. Run it
  4. Observe initial window

Expected behavior Should be obvious from screenshots above

The screenshot is showing the graph view, which shows floating nodes, you decide where they are by moving them around. Is there a problem in other places?

Hi @dimtpap, of course it's not a critical issue; however it would be much better if the graph view offered a nicer layout from scratch. And not forced users into minutes of mouse dragging every time they run the app.

Not sure what you mean by "other places"... Within coppwr, that's the only graph view, if I remember correctly

I'd like to add better automatic placing of the graph nodes, but that is a bit complex and would take some time.

And not forced users into minutes of mouse dragging every time they run the app.

The app saves the positions of the nodes, so after the first manual organization it shouldn't be much of an issue.

Not sure what you mean by "other places"

I meant in other views, like the profiler etc.

The graph has just undergone a rewrite by the way, if you'd like to re-check anything grab a build from here
