Privacy settings (Email visible to public)

I often search for my own emails on google to avoid being exposed to spammers and others.

And after registering to GrailsCrowd my public profile page shows my email, and then in google anyone can find such data. I tried to remove my email from my profile, and was told: "Please provide your email address (we wont share it with anyone)." But actually it was being shared with the whole world. My only option was to unmark "Allow people to contact me via email: " and "Allow email notifications: ". In my opinion the email should be shown only to registered members.

This is a valid question. This email visible to public thing might scare people off.
