updated to swift version 5.0

I have updated the project to use swift 5.0 I have also removed as many warnings as possible. I added fatalError() calls in places where I did not have enough time to debug it. I have also run the application on a simulator and all seems to be working fine. It would still require further testing to place in a production environment.
