Attempting to connect to a network with the emulated ethernet card and Marinetti causes a crash

I have Marrinetti configured correctly for an Uthernet / Uthernet II card (both tried) in slot 3 connecting via network interface 0 which I assume is the correct one but I don't know for sure as gsplus does not display the name of the device it is set to use. When I press the "Connect to Network button" in the Marinetti control panel and the "Starting Uthernet II Driver" message appears, the emulator immediately crashes with no error message or anything. Running the latest release 0.14.
