Thanks for opening this bug! Yeah, there is no custom syntax hilighting yet in codelabs. This needs to be developed but takes time. Any help welcome! :)

Agreed :) There is some design work on the codelab itself to get the whole UI changed. This is a first beta experiment and that issue will get fixed :)
