[Enhancement]: Interest in bringing snap up-to-date

What changes would you like?

Hi @lucyllewy , I just wanted to drop a quick note expressing interest in bringing this snap up-to-date (with core24, gnome snapcraft extension, recent version from upstream, etc), and perhaps helping it to get forked over to the snapcrafters githug org (which looks like it is well on its way based on the README!).

If you are open to it I will fork to my personal account and then open PRs for review/collaboration. This probably wouldn't be for another month or two - I first wanted to see if this is something you would be receptive to. Thanks!

Part of my motivation in getting the snap up-to-date is integrating these Audacity AI plugins developed and maintained by Intel. I'm an engineer with Canonical and specifically my role involves supporting Intel to integrate, optimize, and package their software for Ubuntu. We did something similar with the GIMP snap recently that was well received.

@frenchwr FWIW as a fellow warthog and avid user of audacity and someone who is quite familiar with the snap ecosystem I'd be happy to try and help too if you need

I have just proposed https://github.com/diddlesnaps/audacity/pull/40 which updates this snap to core24 and the latest upstream 3.7.1 release.
