Question about DIC pattern templates

Open LuceroL opened this issue 9 months ago • 2 comments

Hello there,

Im a university researcher that looking to use DICe for an upcoming experiment. We wanted to see if DICe would be able to work with a grid pattern and not a simple shape or spherical objects. Attached is an example of grid we are thinking of using to track deformation in our tensile sample. Thanks!

To get accurate results you need gradients in the image. For the grid pattern you would only get gradients along the edges of the black pattern. That being said, you might still be able to get an average sense of the deformation using large subsets that include several squares of the grid. Either way, you won't be able to resolve much detail in the deformation with the grid. If you try it out, let us know how it goes.

Hello again, was able to set up my grids with dots and looks likes its working well. Does DICe have an email or someone we can talk to about optimizing parameters? I watched the Youtube videos but they might be from a different GUI so I was hoping to ask any experts here for some assistance! You can also reach out to me at [email protected]
