SSIG Information

Hello,

I was wondering if you could point me to more information about the SSIG threshold parameter. I am wondering how raising/lowering it affects the subset distribution.

Thanks!

Here's a paper about SSSIG: https://opg.optica.org/DirectPDFAccess/B3BA1AE9-4802-4BBC-B62D08AD1D680E88_158092/oe-16-10-7037.pdf?da=1&id=158092&seq=0&mobile=no

The basic premise is that the SSSIG measures the amount of gradient information in a subset (quality of the speckles). If there isn't enough contrast or gradients in a speckle, the optimization routine beneath DIC will struggle to converge to a robust solution since it depends so much on the image gradients. The reason it's a user-tuned parameter in DICe is because the SSSIG values depend on how much contrast there is in the image which varies widely.

The link appears to be broken, I believe this is the same? https://doi.org/10.1364/OE.16.007037

Yep, that's the right link.
