Request to become part of Gnome Circle

Open Enderteck opened this issue 11 months ago • 3 comments

You can apply for your app to be part of the Gnome Circle here : Gnome Circle : How to Apply

From their website:

Developers who are using the GNOME platform can apply to have their projects included in GNOME Circle. When their project is approved, they qualify for benefits including:

  • Promotion and advertising
  • Contributors qualify for GNOME Foundation membership (see benefits)

This would make the project way more well-known and help with the developpement.

The app has to have these requirements though, but I think Dissent (especially with the new name and icon) would qualify for most of those : https://gitlab.gnome.org/Teams/Circle/-/blob/main/library_criteria.md

I am not affiliated with Gnome Circle and this is just a suggestion and I don't want to pressure anyone into joining Gnome circle I just feel like the app fits well into it's guidelines and style.

Feel free to discuss/give your opinion on this matter.

It seems Dissent doesn't satisfy a good chunk of the Accessibility requirements (unfortunately):

  • [ ] Can navigate to all elements via keyboard and use them
  • [ ] Uses standard keyboard shortcuts (more info)
  • [x] High-contrast mode works
  • [ ] Large text mode works
  • [ ] Sufficient contrast between content and background
  • [ ] Works with Orca (activate via Alt+Super+S)
    • [ ] Image buttons have a tooltipCan navigate to all elements via keyboard and use them

Some of these I'm not sure if Dissent actually ticks, but I'm not confident on its keyboard shortcuts.

Ok,

is it still a goal/something to go towards though ?

I love this project, very ambitious and unique !

Yes, but it's not a priority for me at the moment.
