Is there not a unix terminal that does waterfall mode?

It makes sense to treat lines like a typewriter did when you're banging out a letter or novel in vim but every feed I read has the most recent content "above the fold" (to use a newspaper term).

I think waterfall is the way to go for command line work. We can open an editor when we want to hitting Enter to append a line to the end of the file.

How many people have already thought of this? Surely over the past 50 years some people have created waterfall terminals?
