Rate in monitor mode

Does the rate for monitor mode 0x4910 really matter for the CSI data measurement? I read somewhere that the preamble is always modulated using BPSK modulation and since the CSI is generated from the known training symbols at the preambles, does it mean that whatever MCS value we choose have no influence on the CSI?
