Kicad 5 project -- missing custom footprint duplicated from standard footprint

Open sporniket opened this issue 1 year ago • 2 comments

Hello,

Working on fixing the portability of the kicad project (see also PR #2 ).

There is a reference to a footprint Jumper:SolderJumper-2_P1.3mm_Bridged_RoundedPad1.0x1.5mm_DAVID that seems to me a duplicate from the builtin Jumper:SolderJumper-2_P1.3mm_Bridged_RoundedPad1.0x1.5mm, but as it is located in the same system library, it is outside this repository.

What is different in your custom reference ? Is it possible to go back to the standard footprint ? Otherwise, it would be good that you include your custom version into the local footprint library that you made.

ok, looking at the PCB, it seems this symbol is a version that is put on the bottom layer (pads & silk screen).

Then having custom footprint library inside the project is the way to go

Hi there,

The only difference is that instead of two briding traces that would have to be cut by the intrepid modder, this has only one. It's trivial and it could be swapped back with ease.

Or the jumper could be dropped -- they're their in case switching to 16 bit FPU mode was required after manufacture.

I thought the library ('david') was included, but I'll review this when I get a time. Thanks.
