This may be Safari-specific, which would be worth looking into.

Here is how the formula renders on Dekstop Ubuntu, with Firefox:

and Chrome+MathJax:

It is fair to say that both Firefox and Chrome fall short of the excellence with which TeX rendered the formula in PDF, but Safari has visual damage beyond the positioning issues.

This may be connected to #11 . We are now migrating to native MathML Core support, and it will be interesting to track if our improvements (such as providing fallback web fonts for "STIX Two Math") track well with updates to Safari.

I suspect it will be another few months until the rendering of bra-kets stabilizes.
