Upgrading Gen2 from 3.3.9_001518 to 3.3.9_001886

Hi, I currently have a rooted Gen2 running 3.3.9_001518. I have been using the Mi Home App exclusively - although someday I'll try a cloudless based solution. Can I safely perform a manual update from the current build to the firmware version the latest Mi Home App wants: 3.3.9_001886. by following these directions: https://github.com/dgiese/dustcloud/wiki/VacuumRobots-manual-update-root-Howto

Are those directions just for the initial rooting of the device - or is the same procedure followed for performing upgrades like the one I want - i.e. no difference.

My goals currently are simple - root access and to be able to use the Mi Home App on my iPhone.
