How do I run these documents locally for preview?

You need to have jekyll installed. Then to start the docs server in dev mode:

bundle exec jekyll serve --incremental

It serves on localhost:4000.

Oh, OK. But it's troublesome to install Jekyll. Why not consider webpack?
