Generally, pg_dump/pg_restore want the target database to be empty. The `--clean` flag is a blunt workaround that fails quite often, I wouldn't recommend relying on it.

If the Ctrl-W idea to clear fields is implemented, please also add Ctrl-U which is part of the standard unix keybindings for "clear entire line".

You'd have to ask AWS to install it for you. There is no way to install extensions on RDS yourself.
