This isn't an issue with qemu-ios.

What's going on here is that Ubuntu doesn't display the password as you type it for security reasons. It's still going in, just not being displayed. Type it carefully and you should be good to go

Ubuntu is nothing related to qemu-ios. You could compile this on Windows if you wanted and not have to use Ubuntu. Ubuntu is an entirely separate Operating System, it is not even remotely part of qemu-ios.
