The doctest error is fixed in #966.
Seems to be a bug, either in the docs or the implementation. Possibly fixed by #1905.
Failing tests are fixed by #966 and #967.
This seems nice but not as important as #1905, so I think we should get #1905 in first.

This method for `ScalMat` should actually be removed, or rather it should not return a `ScalMat`. The result is just not a pd matrix in general, and changing the output...
