Global Picture: International Official Finance updates
Data series needed for Global Picture update:
The Global Picture component ‘International Official Finance’ is almost all comprised from OECD data. We would aim to update each data-series within this component, these are:
| Data series Name | Front end name |
|---|---|
| fact.in_oda_gross_constant | Gross ODA received, US$ |
| fact.in_oda_net_constant | Net ODA received, US$ |
| fact.out_oda_net_constant | Net ODA provided by OECD DAC members, US$ |
| fact.oda_percent_gni | Net ODA provided by DAC members, % of GNI |
| fact.oda_to_ldcs_percent_gni | Net ODA provided by DAC members to LDCs, % of GNI* |
| fact.in_oof_gross | Gross long-term other official flows and export credits received, US$ |
| fact.out_oof_net | Net other official flows and export credits provided, US$ |
| fact.out_ssc_net | Net ODA provided by non-DAC donors, US$ |
| fact.ssc_percent_gni | Net ODA provided by non-DAC donors, US$ |
| recipient_profile.oda_per_poor_person_2015 | ODA per person living on under $1.90 a day, US$** |
*May hold more complex coding than the others. **Usually produced manually and submitted to developer.
These series had all been automated using the previous coding software (PostgreSQL?). I am unsure of their status in-terms of being moved over to R. The updates process would aim to:
- Run scripts to obtain the data up to 2017 (meaning the only edit to the script would be to bring in the additional year of data)
- to edit the Github CMS to change the control to go up to 2017 for each relevant indicator.
- Ideally sign-off could be done via sense checks and spot checks back to the source if we using coding that has already been signed-off. If the coding has been moved to R and not signed-off then it may be worth considering a more detailed review.
Currently have assigned task with database relevant assignees and labels, the captures the need for a review prior to starting updates, however it would become a front-end task once the data has been produced and loaded onto staging. If the coding runs smoothly we could expect a quick turnaround.
Work in this issue is due to be postponed into the new year. Added to backlog.
