HomeKit status when bulb offline

Open nouseforaname1 opened this issue 6 years ago • 1 comments

When I turn an LIFX bulb off at the wall switch, HomeKit continues to indicate the bulb is on incorrectly.

Restarting Homebridge or the HomeKit app doesn't clear the false status.

It appears Homebridge is, quite reasonably, not reporting an on/off status as it can't contact the bulb, and HomeKit is hanging onto the last thing it knew.

Can I reconfigure Homebridge/homebridge-lifx-lan to instead tell HomeKit the bulb is off if it cannot contact the bulb? Thanks!

p.s. Apologies if a github thread is not the right place to report/ask such a question - please just point me the right way if I am in the wrong place.

Thinking more about it - I can see the issue being - if the bulb isn't up, how can the LIFX-lan element know the bulb exists to report it as off?

Makes me think I need a config line that says "Report x off if can't be seen", hardcoding the existence of the bulb into the config.json.
