Do not sync yet. I need to verify this is everything needed for Ubuntu 24.04 and test.

@juddmon Thank you for these! I've been slammed with my day job, and haven't had time to pivot back to these, dig my devices out of storage and test the changes. I'll do my best to carve out some time in the coming weeks to get back in here!

This is a duplicate from PR #22, so we should go with that one. We also need to merge pl_modernizing_updates into main. @desrod I can take care of these if you'd like and get the repo fixed up.
