Explorer++ Hangs when trying to sort on columns

I am editing photos and have set-up three columns:

Date Taken Date Created Date Modified

Clicking on any heading, in order to change the sort order, causes Explorer++ to hang. This can only be resolved by forcing Explorer++ to stop in Task Manager (End Task), This issue does not occur in File Explorer. There are about 1600 photos of 5Mb each in the folder.

There are some sub-folders, with around 2,000 photos, total size 7.9Gb. I do not sort on these.
