Show All Folders (Windows Explorer option)

Open WildByDesign opened this issue 5 years ago • 0 comments

Describe the bug Windows Explorer has the option to "Show all folders" with an option to enable or disable. Explorer++ seems to not respect that option and only shows its treeview with "Show all folders" enabled. It would be fantastic if Explorer++ could respect that option (or have it's own option) to toggle between "Show all folders" enabled or disabled.

To Reproduce This is just default behavior of Explorer++ and I also looked back at older releases (1.3.5) and seems to have always been the case.

Expected behavior The following web site (https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/7078-turn-off-show-all-folders-windows-10-navigation-pane.html) describes the expected behavior with regard to Windows Explorer and describes it much better than I could. Also, that link contains screenshots that show the differences visually between enabled or disabled.

Screenshots See screenshots in link above.

Version (please complete the following information):

  • Explorer++ version: 1.4.0.1781 (64-bit AppVeyor build) and older 1.3.5 release)
  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit (Version 20H2 / 19042.685)

Additional context Essentially what bothers me about this "Show all folders" being enabled always in Explorer++ is that the treeview always shows dozens of folders in the treeview side that are located on my Desktop. That is the behavior of Windows Explorer as well when "Show all folders" is enabled. When you disable it, Windows Explorer will no longer show all of my desktop contents in its treeview.

Your recent commits regarding the System.IsPinnedToNameSpaceTree property is what inspired me to dig into this deeper in hopes that changes with that might help me change how treeview gets cluttered up by showing all of my desktop folders. Unfortunately, after playing around with that for several days, I had no success in that regard. Therefore I've decided to create this bug report.

Cheers!
