set Explorer++ as default
is there a safe way to make explorer the default file browser for windows 10, and have the ability to change back ? basically enable the user to open folders from the desktop in explorer++, thanks in advance
There is a user in the forum who wrote an installation program for the 1.4.0.831. After installing this, Explorer++ replaces default Windows explorer. I think that it is possible to create similar installation program for the latest Explorer++.

I cant open the dowload link, the googledrive page shows 404
To set Explorer++ as the default file browser: open Explorer++ as administrator. from the menu bar: Tools>Options>General>Default file management: chek the "Replace explorer for all folders" radio button.
@AlexMaxes,
The author made another installer of 1.4.0.1208 version, you could check this in the forum: https://explorerplusplus.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&p=5922#p5922
As another option, you could follow steps suggested by @DannyGersh and download latest development version for your platform here: https://ci.appveyor.com/project/derceg/explorerplusplus
chek the "Replace explorer for all folders" radio button.
BTW, these steps don't work for me (1.4.0.1265 version and Win 10 x64).

This is interesting, because it works for me - same build, same environment: version 1.4.0.1265(64 bit Unicode build) on Win 10. is having the same build on the same operating system isn't enough ?
I had a problem on the first time I ran the .exe, the bookmarks didn't appear, but everything works fine after the second time, maybe it's something similar.
Found a workaround to replace system's explorer on 1.4.0.1265. The issue is that I already had "Replace explorer for all folders" selected. I had to select other options and apply them, and finally enable this option one more time. After this Explorer++ is the default one.
Probably my configuration files or registry was a little bit messy since I tried several versions of it and uninstalled Explorer++ multiple times. Not sure if this is a bug. Anyway, I think that it answers the first message and this probably can be closed.
