Always online
This is a very great plugin and works perfectly. I have only one problem that I can not fix.
My PC is always turned on. While pidgin is running, and I am logged in to my facebook chat, I always appear online to others and when I get messaged, my phone shows notifications, but won't beep.
I have tried different statuses like: do not disturb, invisible, away, and extended away but it still keeps me online whatever I do.
When XMPP used to work, the extended away worked perfectly and when I wasn't at my PC, for other it appeared that I am away since x minutes. Acted just like when I minimized facebook on the browser.
What I would like to achieve is to get messages but not to trigger online status. Just how facebook messenger works on smartphones.
Is Pidgin setup to automatically read notifications? That could be why your phone isn't displaying the notification properly.
There are only two valid statuses, available and invisible. Facebook doesn't recognize anything else. You can use the "new status" option in the pidgin status selector to set a different status for the facebook account only.
@dequis I have tried every single statuses, they act the same. Even when I set to invisible, I appear to be online. The only option is to set offline status, but that also logs me out.
@dequis I have set the status to invisible, waited 15 minutes, than checked on my friends phone and I was still online. Right after that, he wrote me on messenger, and the away status went up to 1 minutes, 2 minutes, etc. But as soon I touched my pc,, I became online again. Is there a way so I can keep being away whatever I do?
Welp, probably a bug then. I'll probably look into this when I update the protocol version.
