Using “Harris SA” RS-232 PPP Functionality on Rooted Android Devices

Howdy,

I have a rooted Google Pixel 3a using Magisk, running ATAK-CIV 4.7.0.4 from the play store. I desire to utilize the Harris SA functionality to pass COT over PPP with a RS-232 connection to a radio. The issue is that when the device is rooted, ATAK: (1) does not see the device as rooted, and (2) does not request root access permissions from Magisk (the standard method applications assume root access on rooted android devices). Thus the Harris SA functionality is not toggle-able and the switch is greyed out, saying “pixel 3a is not rooted.” It is to my understanding that this functionality is primarily integrated for use on the Samsung TE devices, which I presume achieve root in a different manner. I have not seen anyone use Harris SA on non TE devices, nor have I seen someone achieve it with a personal rooted android EUD. Is my method of using Magisk to achieve root not capable of allowing ATAK to have root access? Or is this functionality not currently not operational in ATAK?

The SU request functionality was removed from core app and there was work done to produce a helper application that will allow that. Please let me know.
