Investigate if gradle has a version spec

Gradle has version spec similar to maven. Details on this link: https://docs.gradle.org/current/userguide/single_versions.html#version_ordering

This seems to have been introduced relatively recently though and as far as I can see it's only beed in the current gradle version.
